Redbud Forest Pansy

About This Project

Botanical Name

Cercis canadensis

‘Forest Pansy’

Mature Sizes

20 – 30 X 25 – 35 ft.

Landscape Uses

Lawns, woodland gardens or naturalized areas. Effective planted as a specimen or in groups. Frequently planted as a street tree in residential areas. Small stature makes them a good choice in both small urban gardens or large landscapes.

Heart-shaped leaves open bright reddish-purple and gradually mature to a more maroon. Purple/pink flowers appear all over the tree in spring, just before the leaves emerge.
